International DJ EASE, the 2013 Roc Raida Gong Battle Champion (with video)

After a grueling/stressful Gong battle, International DJ Ease came through with the win. There were unwanted rematches, broken turntables, screaming matches, hurt feeling... You know, all the stuff that you should expect from a grudge match like The Gong Battle. The audience is encouraged to boo and if the judges don't like it, they will literally Gong you out. And that damn gong is super loud. We will get into the details after the jump, but first, let me say DJ Ease ruled the competition. Below is one part of the 7 routines he had to master in-order to win. This is the R.I.P. Routine. More info about the competition after the jump...

Pete Tong’s interview with Shelly Finkel: EDM Promoting, Events, and more…

Its pretty rare to listen to a real industry leader/movement maker and creator, but this is one of those times, Shelly Finkel is a major payer in the music industry. If you are interested in the culture and creation of these new EDM events, or as he states is as the EMC (electronic music culture), then you should definitely give this a video a serious listen. He did recently acquire Beatport and he funds/runs major dance music events, so he is still on the cutting edge of music on many different genres. Check the video below:

I found this video on DJ City. Check out DJ City for other great articles and their amazing record pool.

Hey Mr DJ: 10 Questions for Clinton Sparks, With Video!

Last year, 2011, at the Winter Music Conference, I was at a pool party that had a hand full of DJs and acts. One act was this DJ crew and some singer on the mic. They turned out the party hard. They were pouring shots in girls mouths and bodys, and made everyone go nuts. The one break-out song that made everyone jump was "Killer" (videos after the jump:), I will add my video from the Miami show here soon. He was not the DJ though, that was covered by The Disco Fries. He was lead vocals and hes got a killer stage presence (no pun intended). Not the typical role of a DJ right? I like it...

On question number 10, he said something that I have been saying for years now: "Virtually anybody can say they are a DJ but what you do and how you do it is the difference between you saying, 'I’m a DJ' to people saying, 'That’s my favorite DJ.' "

That all said, he got nominated for a 2012 grammy, and for any DJ that is a HUGE deal! So read on, watch the videos and look ahead! This is not he last time Clinton Sparks will be heard from, its just the beginning. More info and the videos after the jump:

Ok Go’s new video “This Too Shall Pass” is all Rube Goldburg. WOW!

What tops the treadmill video? How about a giant Rube Goldburg machine that is actually timed to the music that and has a part in the song. Yeah, that will do. More after the jump:
