Everything is a Remix Project comes to a conclusion, Watch parts 1 – 4 here

Back in September of 2010, Kirby Ferguson brought us the first of 4 parts to "Everything is a Remix", a video project that explores remixing through all media and the copyright laws that have evolved around this phenomenon. Here, you can watch all 4 parts after the jump. Its very interesting to see all of the different places people have drawn inspiration from or "stolen" from, as it is today. Copyright law needs to be revised! But in the spirit of remixing and reusing other people's materials, I give you "Everything is a Remix" Parts 1 through 4. Click through to view:

The Argument Against Headphones

Recently, we have been talking a lot about headphones and hearing loss. I don't want to sit here and preach about it it, but the NY Times recently wrote an article about it and DJ Times re-posted it in their monthly blast. I thought it was important to re-post it up here too. Before you get into the meat of the article, one bit of advise: keep your ears healthy and protect them when you can, you only have one pair and hearing damage is permanent. Quick tip - keep a set of ear plugs with you at all time, you never know when you might end up at a show/event.  So, please click through to read the article:

Afrika Bambaataa uses Serato? Yep!

Looks like one of history's biggest digger (for records), Afrika Bambaataa, now uses Serato. I don't really blame him, after all, records are heavy. It was Sutra's 6th year anniversary and the lineup was DJ June, Tony Touch, and Afrika Bambaattaa. It was some seriously good music. But did Bambaataa bring it as hard and are his crates as deep as expected? Also, what does it mean for DJing considering Bambaataa is no longer using records? Click through to read more and for more pictures of the event:
