This is a mix from a friday night in June 2014, recorded at Solas NYC. DJ Color TV had the place jumping all night long. This mix is just 1 hour snippet from the full night. Listen to it, like it, and share it with everyone!!!!

Equipment used for this mix: 2 Technics 1200's and a Rane 62 mixer. Serato is the DVS and the program that recorded the mix. This is about 1 hour from a 6 hour set, from about 11:45pm to 12:45am. The place was hype all 6 hours. And of course the intro and outro were recorded after the fact. Click Through for a full track listing.

International Ease and DJ Color TV in Ohio!

If you were in Bowling Green, Ohio and you were at Clazel Nightclub, you were in for a treat this past weekend. International Ease and Dj Color TV, from NYC, came all the way to Ohio to rock this small college town. And rock it, they did! Clazel is right in the heart of downtown BG. Coming from NYC, you never know exactly what to expect, but our good friend DJ Manny, from near by Toledo, booked us and we had a feeling it was going to be good. In fact, the people in BG know how to party! Girls twerking on the stage, champaign showers, hands in the air, you name it, it happened. The weekend isn't over yet, we are on the move to a party island: Put In Bay, OH. We will be DJing along side with DJ Manny tonight at Club "Level 2"! You need to come if you are in the Toledo, OH area. Click through for more photos and info...

Will Producers Make DJs Obsolete? (repost + more insight)

From time to time, we here at NYCelectro.com repost articles that are worth reposting, and this is one of those articles. DJ Tech Tools, a site that continuously posts amazing articles, recently posted this article about if being a producer is a better path to follow than being a DJ. It is an amazing read and very insightful. As a DJ myself, that is learning/turning producer, this article really hits home. Here one of my favorite quotes of the article: ..."being a great music producer/DJ is about moving the ball forward a few inches every day", good stuff. After the jump, there is more insight about the article/current state of DJ affairs, and the link to the original article.

 Will Producers Make DJs Obsolete?

Will Producers Make DJs Obsolete?

I know that DJs are feeling the pressure from these Producers that "DJ". They are getting the gigs, and money, that the experienced DJs should be getting/were getting. So why is this? The phenomenon is a bit new but is no surprise. Back in the day; pre Final Scratch (you remember that?, I had it)/Serato/Tractor/iTunes/whatever; you needed records, music knowledge, a good local store to buy from, and money to buy the records (usually doubles of each song) in order to DJ a gig. The level of entry was high and not too many people could really get into it. There were simply too many obstacles for regular people, thus making the art of DJing valuable. But now, things are very different. You can easily get libraries of great songs, a cheap controller, or just iTunes, and claim to be a DJ. As most young DJs do, they are over confident with their "skills", Pauly D haha, and go out and get that gig, even get big gigs cause they know people, all while under cutting the guy with actual DJ skills. This is why its nearly impossible to make a steady living DJing these days, literally everyone is a "DJ". This is why the Producers are becoming so sought after as "DJs". They are making the music and then playing it live. For example, would you rather see Daft Punk live, or hear some guy play their songs off his laptop? An example, we just saw CRNKN live. CRNKN was on turntables and Jayceeoha, an amazing DJ, opened for him. Jayceeoh is a way better DJ, but CRNKN has his own music. And if you didnt know, Jayceeoh just won the 2013 Master Of The Mix challenge and he was not the headliner.

So, if you are an amazing DJ only, constantly being undercut by amateurs, what do you do? What can you do? The answer is simple, make our own music, edits, remixes, and cuts. This is what the DJ Tech Tools' article is all about. Producing will make you a better DJ. And it will get you more gigs with better promotions, and hopefully, better pay. And eventually this, from the article, might ring true :"Your inner producer will ultimately render your inner DJ obsolete." From personal experience, you become a better performer when you produce your own music/remixes.

Toca Tuesdays with Tony Touch: DJ June’s Birthday

Every Tuesday night Tony Touch throws a great party Hip-hop in the East Village/Lower East Side called Toca Tuesdays. He brings in a scheduled special guest along with his resident DJ, Dj June. Last night was DJ June's Birthday celebration. The schedule was DJ June playing a longer than normal set, then Tony Touch. But that isnt what exactly happened. She DJ's excellently then Tony Touch brought in DJ Finesse for starters. Then after a great happy birthday set of songs from Finesse, there was another special guest... Just Blaze! It was late, people were vibing, and so was Just Blaze and Tony Touch. They did a series of juggles together. Watching it, it was like Just Blaze saw a song on Tony's computer and was like "Yeah this is the one" and Tony was doing the same! You gotta check out the video.

DJ Shu, The 2013 Beats By Dre DJ Battle Champ at Rock and Soul

Today, the legendary NYC DJ store, Rock and Soul, teamed up with Beats by Dre and had a DJ battle. The rules were Vinyl only and each DJ had 2 minutes to rock the house. It was mainly guys scratching and juggling  There were a few body tricks and lots of "fresh"s and "ahhh"s. But the overall winner of the competition was NYCelectro.com's own DJ Shu! He won the new Beats By Dre - Mixr, created by David Guetta. To top it off, once the battle was finished, Tony Touch came out and did a special performance. Click through for more pics! Also, check back as we may be adding video to the post, provided by the patrons and Rock and Soul.

The Jetpack DJ Bag review by DJ Color TV

Every DJ needs a good bag. The problem is they are expensive and its hard to tell if you are buying what you need until you bring it home and pack it up. If its too tight, then thats no good, if its too big, same problem. Like Goldilocks, it needs to be just right. I found one that fits my needs, and more importantly, all my equipment. I have fit a lot in the Jetpack bag including a Rane 57, and it all fits quite comfortably. But don't get me wrong, if you have less stuff, the bag can be collapsed down and be smaller, so thats good. Its the Jetpack DJ Bag. Checkout the video so see the rest of my take on this bag. Also there are many pics of this bag and more info, like where to buy it, after the jump:
