NYC 2011 DMC competition! This Sat, June 11th
If you are a battle DJ or a turntablist enthusiast, this weekend is your weekend here in New York City. The longest running DJ competition will be hosing 2 competitions at Santos Party House. First will be the local battle to qualify for the world finals. Then, the US Battle for Supremacy. The show is from 2pm to 8pm, so get there early, as there will be a line to get in. 2011 DMC, Dates, Info, and Videos
The DMC is coming in full force this year. If you don't know, the DMC is a worldwide DJ competition. DJs from all over the world compete from maybe 15 countries (it changes every year). Back here in America, you can check out, or compete in the DMC in 7 different cities. The battle in San Antonio is already done. For the results of that and the other cities, click through. Its pretty rare to get an explanation on what someone is doing on a battle/juggle routine, especially for free. I have learned many technics from many different DJs on some basic/advanced juggling concepts, but nothing really like this. the DMC DJ Competition is Going Digital! Its Official, for real… (update)
Apparently, at the DMC is making some changes. This was announced at the end of the World DMC Competition on October 18th, 2010. Tony Prince, the founder of the DMC, was reported to announce this news on stage after announcing the new heavy sponsorship from Rane and Serato. Personally, I am not sure if this is a good or bad thing. Its good that the competition is getting with the times, but on the other hand it could destroy the competition altogether. DJ LIGONE from France is the new 2010 World DMC Champion (update, VIDEO + more pics)
The DMC this year is now over. It was in London for the last two days and the action was intense. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the DMC, it is a world-wide championship that crowns the best DJs/Turntablists in the world. The winners wins major gear, sponsorships, and get to tour around the world. Past notable winners are DJ Qbert, Mix Master Mike, DJ A Trac, DJ Craze, and most recently in 2009, DJ Shiftee. The US has brought home 12 wold championships, but in the last five years its gone back and forth between the US, Germany (once), and France. This year France took the title back. DJ Shiftee for America’s Best DJ 2010 (with videos)
DJ Shiftee, if you don't know about him, then you should. He is the 2007 DMC Battle for World Supremecy champion (2 minute head to head routines, posted below), and the 2009 World DJ Champion (6 minute battle routines, also posted below). He has the gold turntables, and hes got mad skill. This year, he is up for America's best DJ, and I think he has go the skills to earn that title. His 2010 campaign video (parts 1 and 2), party routine, and other videos are all after the jump:

The show was amazing. This year, the DMC brought back one of the original organizers to put on this show and it really made a difference. Each competitor was ready for battle, but some were obviously better than others. However, that does not mean the crowd favorite won. The winners, and more pictures, after the jump...

TODAY, DMC US Finals, Santos Party House, Doors at 4pm!
I know you already know about from the post below, this is just a reminder the DMC US finals are here today. Its going down in NYC at Santos Party House, 96 Lafayette St, just south of Canal. Its from 4pm to 10pm. I am willing to bet nothing will actually start till 6pm, but there WILL BE A LINE, so get there early.
