Afrika Bambaataa uses Serato? Yep!
Looks like one of history's biggest digger (for records), Afrika Bambaataa, now uses Serato. I don't really blame him, after all, records are heavy. It was Sutra's 6th year anniversary and the lineup was DJ June, Tony Touch, and Afrika Bambaattaa. It was some seriously good music. But did Bambaataa bring it as hard and are his crates as deep as expected? Also, what does it mean for DJing considering Bambaataa is no longer using records? ‘Dropping On The 4′ is the new ‘Dropping On The 1′. (with some music theory)
This is no new concept to most DJs with many/a few years under their belt, but its very useful. Most DJs mix on the 1 (of the beat) and there is nothing wrong with. But, for those of you that have the need for something different, then this article is for you. Catastrophe in the DJ Booth
Most of the time when DJing, everything goes swimmingly. You put up with the relentless requests from girls (I don't mind that part), you play the right songs at the right time, people sing and dance and every one has a good time. Other times... well things can go the other way. A catastrophe can happen that has the potential to ruin the party. This happened for me on Saturday, luckily, it only happened in the DJ booth. Its time to get your 80's-on with NYCelectro's own DJ Color TV and DJ Lazor at Solas in the East Village, NYC (9th st, between 2nd and 3rd ave). It will be this Friday, Sept 3rd, from 10pm to 4am. TODAY, DMC US Finals, Santos Party House, Doors at 4pm!
I know you already know about from the post below, this is just a reminder the DMC US finals are here today. Its going down in NYC at Santos Party House, 96 Lafayette St, just south of Canal. Its from 4pm to 10pm. I am willing to bet nothing will actually start till 6pm, but there WILL BE A LINE, so get there early.
